Lake Village

from Fish House Blues by Daniel Shaw

/

about

Noticing the similarities to Scandinavian prehistoric settlements, the Glastonbury and Meare lake villages were discovered around a hundred years ago by peat cutters. These were built up over the marshes into the roundhouses with a central hearth. A prehistoric logboat can be viewed in the Glastonbury Tribunal museum. The oldest bow in the world – the Meare Heath Bow, can be viewed in the county museum.
I played the percussion on Tabla. Kolkata was the last place we visited before lockdown.
